Hiring in Maryland

Hiring here is different

Blueprint pre-K

Private providers in Blueprint pre-K need Maryland EXCELS Level 3 or higher and a plan to reach Level 5 within 5 years. Lead teachers generally need a bachelor’s, and assistants need a Preschool CDA or an associate in ECE or child development. Since July 1, 2026, a new law (HB 748) gives assistants at private providers 3 years from hire to earn it.

Scholarship freeze

The Child Care Scholarship has been under a partial enrollment freeze since May 2025, and MSDE started awarding scholarships to some waitlisted families in July 2026. Swings like that make staffing hard to plan, so we help you hire for the rooms you’ll actually open.

Maryland Child Care Credential

The voluntary Maryland Child Care Credential runs from Level 1 to Level 6 for staff, with a separate track for administrators and bonuses starting at Level 2. We ask candidates for their level so you can see it on their resume.

$35,908 average pay
