Hiring in New Jersey

Hiring here is different

Head teacher

Every New Jersey center needs an approved head teacher under the state’s Manual of Requirements (N.J.A.C. 3A:52), or a consulting head teacher while yours finishes qualifying. There are several ways to qualify, including the Professional Impact NJ Head Teacher endorsement. Licensing doesn’t wait when your head teacher leaves, so we treat it as an urgent search.

Preschool Expansion

About 39% of state-funded preschool seats were projected to be in child care and Head Start classrooms in FY26, and the 2025 mixed delivery law pushes districts to partner with providers even more. Those provider classrooms need a lead teacher with a bachelor’s and at least a P-3 CE or CEAS, with no more than 15 children in the room. We recruit P-3 certified leads for them.

CCAP and Grow NJ Kids

CCAP fully reopened to all eligible families in April 2026, and Grow NJ Kids is the state’s quality rating. More subsidized families mean more rooms to staff, so we help you hire ahead of enrollment.

42,015 child care staff

New Jersey has the sixth-largest child care center workforce in the country.

2,392 child care centers

Private centers with paid staff across the state.

$34,881 average pay

Average annual pay per child care employee in 2025, including part-time staff (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
